Social Impact Episodes

All the Social Impact Episodes are done in partnership with the Youth Economics Initiative (YEI).

YEI WOWS x DemocraShe Collaboration Series

The YEI Women of Wall Street (WOWS) program is YEI's latest initiative that is  focused on bolstering female involvement in economics and finance. In collaboration with DemocraShe, a nonprofit providing high school girls with free online instruction in leadership, civic involvement, and evidence-based resilience skills, spotlight is being placed on girls who have made real impact in tackling macroeconomic problems. The Real Returns Show is excited to have partnered with both of these wonderful organizations in delivering this captiaving

The Economics of Empathy: A Conversation with Bella Brown and Living Outside

Bella Brown is the founder of Living Outside, a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to tackling homelessness through direct outreach, dignity-centered support, and community reintegration. In our interview, Bella shared how economic displacement, housing scarcity, and broken systems contribute to rising unhoused populations—and what real solutions look like on the ground. Her work reveals how social impact and macroeconomics intersect, reshaping the conversation around poverty, public policy, and human potential.

Graysen Pendry on the Economic Stakes of Reproductive Rights

Graysen Pendry is the organizer of the Youth Reproductive Justice Summit, a student-led initiative focused on expanding access, education, and advocacy around reproductive rights. In our interview, Graysen spoke about the economic consequences of limited reproductive autonomy, the gaps in youth representation, and the urgency of intersectional solutions. Her work underscores how reproductive justice is deeply tied to economic mobility, public policy, and generational equity.
